    Background

Dan Caporale founded Hearthstone Design Build to bring the precision, accountability, and hands-on craftsmanship of military service to high-end residential and estate construction in Northern Virginia. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Dan returned to the Piedmont region — where he was raised — and built a contracting practice grounded in field experience, transparent cost-plus contracts, and a specialized focus on timber frame and design-build delivery.

Today, Hearthstone serves landowners and estate clients across Loudoun, Fauquier, and Clarke counties — building timber frame homes, luxury barns, pavilions, pools, and hospitality structures including wineries and breweries. Dan personally walks every site and underwrites every project's design, scope, and budget alignment before a contract is signed.

    Background

Construction is in Dan's DNA. He grew up around the trade on Long Island, and after two decades of founding and leading high-performance organizations, he returned to full-time build work in 2019 to lead construction and development for a Leesburg-based private-equity group. That portfolio grew into the Walsh Family Wine production facility, the Lark Brewing Co. agritourism campus, and a growing body of estate and specialty structures across Northern Virginia — the foundation for launching Hearthstone Design Build.

Dan is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Hearthstone is a Veteran-owned firm with Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) certification in progress.
