Dan Caporale — Principal & Founder

Dan Caporale is the founder and principal of Hearthstone Design Build. He runs every project personally — the same discipline he learned across eight years in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Sergeant.

Before building Hearthstone, Dan built businesses. He founded and sold a staffing company, then founded Hire Our Heroes, a veteran-employment nonprofit later integrated into the USO's Pathfinder program. From 2019 through 2025 he moved into construction and development leadership, running estate-scale builds across Northern Virginia before founding Hearthstone Design Build on March 6, 2025.

Hearthstone is a licensed Class A design-build firm based in Leesburg, Virginia. The work is specific: timber frame homes, barns, pavilions, and estate-scale construction for landowners across Loudoun, Fauquier, Clarke, and Albemarle counties — Virginia's hunt country. Design and build live under one roof, which means one accountable party from the first site walk to the final peg.

Dan's approach is straightforward. He takes on a small number of projects at a time so each one gets an operator's full attention. He is candid about cost, timeline, and what a budget does and does not cover — the kind of plain-spoken clarity landowners rarely get and always remember. The result is fewer surprises, tighter execution, and homes built to last and designed to belong.

He is also the founder of National Hire a Veteran Day, recognized each year on July 25.
