Hearthstone Design Build is a licensed Class A custom timber frame home builder and design-build firm based in Leesburg, Virginia. We specialize in timber frame homes, luxury barns, estate structures, and award-winning hospitality projects across Loudoun County, Western Loudoun, the Fauquier and Clarke corridors, and the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
Our firm was founded on a belief that most construction relationships are structurally broken — the designer doesn't manage the build, the contractor doesn't understand the design, and the owner gets caught between them. We eliminate that gap by keeping design and construction under one contract, one schedule, and one accountable principal.
About Dan Caporale, Founder & Principal
Dan Caporale is the founder and principal of Hearthstone Design Build. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he applies the discipline, precision, and direct accountability of that service to every project. He holds a Virginia Class A contractor's license and serves as the principal on every Hearthstone engagement — from first consultation through final punch list.
Construction is in Dan's DNA. He grew up around the trade on Long Island, and after two decades of founding and leading high-performance organizations, he returned to his roots in 2019 to lead construction and development for a Leesburg-based private equity group. That portfolio grew into the Walsh Family Wine production facility, the award-winning Lark Brewing Co. campus, and a growing body of estate and specialty structures across Northern Virginia — the foundation for launching Hearthstone.
Dan is also the founder of Hire Our Heroes, a veteran employment nonprofit integrated into the USO's Pathfinder program, and established National Hire a Veteran Day, observed nationally every July 25th.
